Since the beginning of time, Earth has provided for us. Her generosity has bestowed a bounty of ceremonial rituals—cooking, eating, feasting. Food, one of her many gifts, has softened the human experience. It is through feeding ourselves, our neighbors, and our communities that we are able to foster meaningful relationships. But even in her abundance lies sadness, grief and death. We’re reminded of this dichotomy everyday in the natural world. It’s in our soil, the stars, and our vegetation. Trees are unable to bloom without preservation. Fruit cannot contribute to our bodies without being plucked from its habitat. Life cannot exist without death. Without loss, how are we able to grow?
Join us this month with The Aphrodisiac Kitchen in this free-flowing conversation where we can begin to explore our relationship to our mortality and the concept of impermanence through the lens of food.
